Nesla P.K. transformed technical training into a thriving solar enterprise. Her work brings clean energy to homes in Thrissur, reduces electricity costs, and encourages more women to enter Kerala’s growing renewable energy sector.

After a Career Break, She Returned with a Business in Clean Energy

In Thrissur, Kerala, Mrs. Nesla P.K. is quietly reshaping the way households think about power. A 33-year-old mother of three, she balances parenting with running her own solar energy company; a path she carved after returning to work following a career break.

Nesla earned a BTech degree in engineering but stepped away from professional life to focus on her family. For years, she concentrated on raising her children, putting her ambitions on hold. But when her youngest was old enough, she began looking for a way back into meaningful work.

That opportunity arrived in the form of ESAF Foundation’s Urjabandhu Batch 9 training programme, a one-month course designed to build local expertise in the solar energy business. Nesla immersed herself in the technical training, business skills, product knowledge and financial management the programme offered. It gave her more than information. It gave her the confidence to launch something of her own.

Soon after completing the programme, Nesla founded Dynzs Power, a renewable energy company registered under MSME Udyam. The company offers solar installation services and works with residential and commercial clients to design customised energy solutions. In just a short period, Nesla completed multiple projects totalling 34 kilowatts of solar capacity in and around Thrissur.

The environmental and financial impact has been significant. Her installations produce 49,640 units of clean energy each year, saving customers ₹3,47,480 annually in energy costs and cutting carbon emissions. Her work reflects a dual focus: delivering practical economic benefits while supporting long-term environmental sustainability.

But Nesla’s impact goes beyond her own company. She is also an active member of the Kerala Solar Energy Bunk (KSEB) LLP, a collective of 16 solar professionals trained through the same Urjabandhu programme. Together, they collaborate on government-subsidised solar projects supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), making clean energy more accessible to a wider population.

As a woman in a male-dominated field, Nesla is running a company and changing perceptions. Her journey shows what is possible when training meets determination, and when entrepreneurship includes women with technical expertise and the drive to lead.

Today, she continues to grow her business while mentoring others interested in clean energy. For women in Kerala wondering whether a career in solar is within reach, Nesla’s story stands as proof that it is — and that the sun can, indeed, rise again on paused ambitions.
