Philips

Philips supported ESAF Foundation to install solar lamps on Majuli Island in Assam and partnered in Kerala, where floods had devastated Idukki district, destroying homes, public infrastructure, and leaving many villages without functional streetlights. In ten flood-affected villages, ESAF and Philips installed solar-powered streetlights, providing reliable lighting even during power outages and offering much-needed relief to residents.

With support from the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, ESAF Foundation facilitated the construction of a Common Facility Centre and provided machinery for Bell Metal artisans in Payyannur, Kerala. As an implementing agency for the Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojna, ESAF strengthened traditional craftsmanship, enhanced artisans’ skills, and created sustainable livelihood opportunities.

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), ESAF Foundation supported the reconstruction and repair of homes for tsunami-affected fishing communities in Tamil Nadu. Through the Asha Kiran Project and Project Jeevan Jyothi, ESAF rehabilitated 258 homes and rebuilt 71 houses in Neerody and Marthandanthurai, providing safe shelter for vulnerable families.

In partnership with Humanitarian Services International (HSI), USA/Canada, ESAF Foundation provided livelihood support to the fishermen community in Vaniakudi, Tamil Nadu, following the 2004 tsunami.
