Farm Sector Initiatives

Promoting sustainable agriculture for higher incomes and yields

Farm Sector Initiatives

Farming remains a precarious livelihood in rural India, marked by ecological stress, unstable returns, and weak market access. ESAF Foundation works to shift this reality by focusing on smallholder, tribal, and women farmers. Through Farmer Producer Organisations, and dairy value chains, its programmes build collective strength, local ownership, and economic resilience. The approach is practical, participatory, and places farmers at the centre of long-term solutions.

What We Do

Our programmes strengthen farm livelihoods by supporting collective enterprise, building local capacity, and enabling access to services and markets.

Form and strengthen farmer collectives

Farmer Producer Organisations give small farmers formal structures for collective decision-making, input access and stronger bargaining power in local markets.

Build inclusive dairy value chains

Dairy Transformation Hubs improve access to fair pricing, promote value addition, and encourage entrepreneurship among small and marginal dairy farmers.

Improve market access for rural producers

Farmer collectives receive training in branding, packaging, and business planning, and connect to buyers through organised platforms and events.

Advance equity in farming systems

Dedicated efforts engage women and tribal farmers through targeted support, leadership roles, and enterprise development within agricultural value chains

From the Field
